Privacy Policy

This policy covers semanticdatacharter.com, the documentation and specification site for the Semantic Data Charter, published by Axius SDC, Inc. It does not cover the SDCBench desktop application, which has its own policy, or SDCStudio, which is a separate product with accounts and its own terms.

Summary

• This site sets no cookies. It has no accounts, no login, no forms and no advertising.
• We count page views in aggregate, without cookies and without anything that identifies you.
• We do not sell, rent or share anything, because there is nothing to sell.
• Three third parties see a request from your browser when you load a page: our host, our stylesheet framework, and our analytics provider. All are named below. The typefaces are served from this site, so rendering text sends nothing to anyone.

You can check this yourself rather than take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools, load any page here, and look at the network and storage tabs. Everything described below is visible there, and anything not described would be too.

Site analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless: it sets no cookie, does not use browser fingerprinting, and does not track you between sites or between visits. What it reports to us is aggregate and non-identifying: how many times a page was viewed, which site referred the visit, the browser and operating system family, the device type, and the country.

We use it for one purpose, which is to learn which specification pages people actually read so we write and fix the right ones. We do not build profiles, we cannot identify an individual visitor from it, and we do not try to.

Who else your browser talks to

• GitHub Pages hosts this site, so GitHub serves every page and, like any web server, processes the connection your browser makes, including its IP address, in order to deliver the page and protect the service.
• The Tailwind CSS CDN serves the stylesheet framework on most pages, which is a request to jsdelivr's or Tailwind's servers.
• Cloudflare serves the analytics script described above.

Links leaving this site go to services with their own policies, including GitHub, PyPI, Discord, Zenodo and axius-sdc.com. The /discord/ page is a redirect and carries no analytics.

Downloads and specifications

The reference model, schemas, documentation and specification files on this site are public and free to download. Downloading them creates no record with us beyond the aggregate page count described above, and requires no account, email address or registration.

If you email us

Writing to contact@axius-sdc.com means we hold your message and your address for as long as the correspondence is useful. We use it to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list from it.

Your rights

Because this site keeps no identifiers, there is generally no personal data of yours for us to retrieve, correct or delete, and no profile to object to. Where we do hold something you sent us, an email for example, write to contact@axius-sdc.com and we will tell you what we have and delete it on request. If you are in the EU, the UK, or a jurisdiction with similar rules, those rights apply and this is how to exercise them.

Children

This site is aimed at professional and technical audiences and is not directed at children.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the effective date above moves. We will not quietly add tracking and leave the old text standing.
